Do Tigear-2 reducers require oil changes?
Tigear-2 reducers are engineered as a sealed-for-life system, eliminating the need for scheduled oil changes or routine lubrication maintenance, which supports consistent performance, reduces maintenance intervention, and helps extend overall gear reducer service life.
Each unit is factory-filled with Klüber H1 food-grade synthetic oil, formulated to deliver stable viscosity, strong film strength, and resistance to thermal breakdown over extended operating periods.
By removing the need for oil changes, Tigear-2 simplifies maintenance practices, minimizes contamination risk, and reduces downtime associated with lubrication servicing.
Can I add a breather to my Tigear-2 reducer?
Tigear-2 reducers are designed with a ventless, sealed housing, so a breather is not required.
Traditional gear reducer designs often include vents that allow air exchange, which can introduce moisture and contaminants into the system. In those applications, breathers are used to help manage that exposure. Tigear-2 eliminates this pathway entirely through its sealed design, keeping lubrication protected and supporting long-term reliability in washdown and outdoor environments.
Adding a breather is not recommended, as it would compromise the sealed system design.
Is it normal to see hop or wobble in a Tigear-2 straight-bore reducer that is shaft mounted?
A small amount of hop and wobble is normal and expected due to standard machining tolerances in the shaft and bore.
Hop refers to a slight perpendicular movement caused by minor shaft-to-bore misalignment. Wobble is the visible rocking motion caused by shaft runout. Tigear-2 is designed to float with the shaft, allowing it to accommodate these conditions without introducing harmful internal loads.
This design approach supports smoother operation and helps maintain bearing and gearing life over time.
